If there’s any one thing that most salespeople aren’t doing enough of is getting referrals and it’s unfortunate because these are the best leads any salesperson can hope for. Here are six reasons why you have to get referrals:

1. Referred prospects respect their friend’s opinion or recommendation.
2. Buying resistance is virtually nonexistent because again, they trust their fiend’s opinion.
3. They generally never haggle over price because they don’t want to appear cheap in friend’s eyes; it’s keeping up with the Jones’s.
4. If you do charge more, the referred prospect was probably told that you were expensive, but you’re worth it, so, they’re expecting it, which reduces or eliminates sticker shock.
5. Let’s face it, there are slow seasons, but when you’ve got a referral system, you’ll never run out of great, easy to close leads. No more feast of famine.
6. The greatest benefit of referral leads is their excitement and enthusiasm for the products or services you offer will be heightened.

That’s because your customer told them all about you and what you offer in detail and this creates a huge advantage for you because they’re already pre-sold before you walk through the door! Now, how great is that? And the best part is referrals beget referrals. It’s almost an unwritten rule that because their friend referred someone, they’re obligated to refer someone as well. I’m not talking about customer referral cards, I’m talking about a regimented, proactive referral system; something that’s virtually non-existent in this industry.
