Differentiating Ourselves from Our Competitors
This is without a doubt an incredibly competitive market, but how can we gain a huge competitive edge with little effort? Let’s look at it from a consumer’s point of view. Everyone knows that all companies aren’t created equally and very few are top notch. Generally, 80% give mediocre to awful service, 15% provide good service and the top 5% offer impeccable service. But when it comes to deciding which company to do business with, it’s a gamble. We get anything from the red carpet treatment to Johnny’s hack shop. Is the guy going to show up looking like a professional or will he look like a bum?
The thing is when a consumer looks through the yellow pages or through websites for service; they see the same things over and over. Just about every ad or website looks the same and they’re all saying the same things. The truth is if a less desirable company wants to look like a great one, all they have to do is copy ads or websites of successful ones. So, the real question is how can we separate ourselves from the pack?
Well, the answer lies in the WHY. Why are you better than your competitors? Why are your employees delivering the best service? Why are they so skilled? Why have you been in business so long and what have you learned during that time? And most importantly, why are your customers raving about and telling everyone they know about you? The bottom line is if you’re not telling everyone about the whys, then how are they going to know how great your company is? So, if you want to gain a huge competitive edge, start uncovering the why’s because there are people out there that want to do business with you, they just don’t why.
